Golden Knights, masters of strong finishers, take on struggling Kraken |
Slow starts have been an issue at times during the season for the Vegas Golden Knights, but head coach Bruce Cassidy isn't losing any sleep over it ... yet. The Golden Knights lead the Pacific Division with 45 points heading into Saturday's game with the Seattle Kraken in Las Vegas, just two points behind Winnipeg's league-leading 47. A big reason for that has been the Golden Knights' 12 come-from-behind wins, tied with the Jets and one behind the Washington Capitals' league-leading 13. Vegas began a three-game homestand with a 3-1 victory over the reigning Pacific Division champion Vancouver Canucks on Thursday. |

Golden Knights top Canucks 3-1, win for 6th time in 7 games |
William Karlsson broke a tie early in the third period and the Vegas Golden Knights went on to beat the Vancouver Canucks 3-1 on Thursday night. Karlsson scored his sixth goal of the season when he skated in along the goal line, banked a shot off Canucks goalie Kevin Lankinen's stick blade, grabbed the rebound in the crease and fired it on the opposite side of the goal. Alex Pietrangelo scored his third goal of the season, Brett Howden notched his 12th into an empty net with 51 seconds left and Adin Hill stopped 19 shots to improve to 14-5-2 this season. |

Gameday: Golden Knights face Canucks without Barbashev, Roy |
After three games on the road, the Vegas Golden Knights are back at T-Mobile Arena to take on the Vancouver Canucks at 7 p.m. today. On offense, they will be somewhat depleted, playing without Ivan Barbashev and Nicolas Roy. Both are dealing with upper-body injuries. Barbashev's status is day-to-day, while Roy has been put on injured reserve. Barbashev left Sunday's game against the Minnesota Wild early and did not return. Tanner Laczynski and Cole Schwindt have been recalled from Henderson for tonight's game. Pavel Dorofeyev skated in place on Barbashev on the first line at practice. When it comes to players on IR returning, defenseman Ben Hutton returned to practice in a no-contact jersey. |

Mikhail Sergachev scores in OT to lift Utah over the Canucks 3-2 |
Mikhail Sergachev scored 4:48 into overtime to lift the Utah Hockey Club to a 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday night. Clayton Keller and Dylan Guenther scored for Utah in the third period to force overtime. Karel Vejmelka made 24 saves. |

Kolesar, a cohesive force for Golden Knights, earns contract extension |
The Vegas Golden Knights' game against the Winnipeg Jets last week was a homecoming of sorts for forward Keegan Kolesar. Kolesar's family made the trip from Brandon, Manitoba, which is about two and a half hours away from Winnipeg, to watch him play. It's been a tradition for Kolesar to see his family whenever he makes the trip up north. "There was a lot of excitement and surprise," Kolesar said. |

Travel: Vegas is going all-in as a sports destination |
Partying with 62,533 of football's faithful at a rockin' Allegiant Stadium only 17 hours after raising the roof with 17,696 hockey fans inside a rollin' T-Mobile Arena, all located within walking distance of each other and a future big-league baseball stadium, it's hard to imagine Las Vegas not always being the sports vacation destination that it is today. Despite experiencing a growth spurt that hit half a million in population as early as 2020, the city with a long history of hosting boxing, exhibitions, tournaments and other world-class sporting events was snubbed for generations by North America's four major professional leagues. A fear of being associated with the gaming industry is the oft-cited reason for their long-standing stance of not putting a team in the Las Vegas area. Today, with ads for DraftKings, FanDuel and casinos saturating sports venues and broadcasts, that exclusionary business model seems more outlandish than Carrot Top's prop-centric comedy shows at the Luxor. |

Olofsson scores twice, Golden Knights defeat Wild |
Kirill Kaprizov scored two goals for the second straight game, and Mats Zuccarello had two assists for Minnesota (20-7-4), which defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1 on Saturday. “I thought it was two teams that played hard,” Wild coach John Hynes said. Jesper Wallstedt made 24 saves in his season debut for Minnesota after Filip Gustavsson was a late scratch because of a lower-body injury. |

LosVGK spotlights Latin American hockey |
A unique initiative within the NHL created by the Vegas Golden Knights, LosVGK emphasizes growing hockey in Latino communities. In September, the program hosted hockey clinics in Mexico. The tournament will feature the men's and women's national hockey teams from Argentinia, Columbia and Puerto Rico, as well as the Mexico Warriors. It is just the second hockey tournament designated for Latin American teams. |
