3 candidates to replace DJ Smith as Senators coach |
The Ottawa Senators made a crucial decision mid-season by parting ways with coach DJ Smith, who had faced significant and growing criticism from fans and media alike. Jacques Martin stepped in as interim coach, with team legend Daniel Alfredsson joining as an assistant. As the regular season concludes with the Senators missing out on the Stanley Cup Playoffs once again, it's time to consider three potential candidates for the role of head coach next season. |

Ottawa Senators Prospects Update: April 23nd |
Thanks to sweeping Laval back-to-back, the B-Sens (might as well be the A-Sens at this point) have secured a best-of-three wildcard series against the Toronto Marlies. Elsewhere, series continue in the USHL and CHL which means we have at least one more week of prospect content around the corner. One of three USHL prospects competing for the Clark Cup, Beckner played a big role in Tri-City's first-round victory over Sioux Falls, though the Storm are losing 1-0 to Fargo in their second-round series. Beckner tallied 3 goals and an assist in the 3 games he took part in this week. |

Former Sens VP Jeff Kyle, instrumental in bringing team to Ottawa, dies at 62 |
Many in Ottawa are mourning the loss of community builder and business leader Jeff Kyle, who played an instrumental part in bringing the Ottawa Senators to the capital. Kyle passed away on Friday after a lengthy battle with cancer, the team announced Saturday. Originally from Brockville, Ont. Kyle came to the capital with big dreams. Kyle remained with the Ottawa Senators for over 20 years, building a brand that is now integral to the city. |

Ottawa Senators' GM provides encouraging Josh Norris update after season-ending injury |
The Ottawa Senators have not had a lot to be happy about recently. The team's 2023-24 season is officially over after they were eliminated from Stanley Cup Playoffs contention for the seventh season in a row. According to Elliotte Friedman on X/Twitter, Ottawa GM Steve Staios says Josh Norris is on-track to be ready for next season. |

Five Thoughts for Friday: Biggest Takeaways from the 2023-24 Season |
The 2023-24 season for the Ottawa Senators was certainly...something. The simple facts are that the Senators finished 11th in overall xGF% (51.92%) but were 2nd last in save percentage (only thanks to a monumental collapse by the Flyers goalies) at .8845% and had the worst, fifth worst, and 17th worst goalies in GSAx. If they simply had league-average goaltending, they would have allowed 236 goals against instead of 281, making them go from a -31 goal differential to a +14 one. The great news is that sometimes all it takes for a team to do well is one player on the team being not terrible. |

Sports history: 4 of the biggest fights between teams and fans |
Over the years, many fights have broken out among players, sometimes coaches, and occasionally even spectators have gotten involved. The 2004 fight during an NBA game between the Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers is remembered as "The Malice at the Palace." |

Sens clean out their lockers as another season ends without a playoff run |
Ottawa Senators players will be cleaning out their lockers today as another season comes to a close. This is the seventh season in a row the Senators failed to qualify for the NHL playoffs. The Sens finished the season with a record of 37-41-4, wrapping up the season Tuesday night against the Boston Bruins with one last win. "It's great to finish with a win for the guys," said interim head coach Jacques Martin Tuesday night. |

3 reasons for concern after Senators playoff elimination |
For the seventh year in a row, the Ottawa Senators have missed the postseason. The team was officially eliminated from playoff contention a little over a week ago after falling well short of expectations on the year. Entering the season, excitement levels around the team were higher than they've been in a long time, and reaching the playoffs seemed like a legit possibility. The front office stocked the team up over the offseason, and on paper, it was a fairly well-built roster. |

Ottawa Senators Prospect Update and Belleville Recap |
While I owe the Ottawa Senators some credit for at least ending this miserable season with a victory, I can mercifully say this NHL season has finally come to an end for us. As Spencer will explain, a play-in victory over Toronto would earn the BSens a postseason matchup against Syracuse if Belleville can hold their current place in the standings. Although they currently don't have any Sens prospects on the roster, ECHL Allen will face Idaho in round one of the postseason. In the USHL playoffs, Kevin Reidler and Dubuque earned a bye as the one-seed in their division while Filip Nordberg and Muskegon also earned a bye as a two-seed. |

Stolarz stopped 25 shots and got his second assist of the season, Anton Lundell and Nick Cousins scored, and the Florida Panthers shut out the Ottawa Senators for the third time with a 2-0 victory on Tuesday night. “I'd like to add a goal to that, but I think at the end of the day the shutouts are the most important thing,” Stolarz said. |

With veterans out, fourth line sends Wild past Ottawa, 3-2 |
With Ryan Hartman suspended and Marcus Foligno lost for the season, the Wild were in dire need of some supplemental scoring on Tuesday. The fourth line stepped up. With Brenden Dillon in the penalty box for high-sticking, Tkachuk took a pass from Tim Stutzle and fired the puck, which deflected into the net past Winnipeg goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. “Great keep by (Jake Sanderson) and a great pass by Timmy,” Tkachuk said. |
