Preview: Seattle Kraken now face expectations in loaded division |
In just their second NHL season, the Seattle Kraken stayed near the top of the Pacific Division standings for most of 2022-23. Seattle relied on the depth of its scoring and career years from forward Jared McCann and defenseman Vince Dunn to earn one of the wild card spots in the Western Conference. In the playoffs, Seattle received exceptional goaltending from Philipp Grubauer to upset defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado before losing to Dallas in the conference semifinals in Game 7. |

Game review: Edmonton Oilers rookie sniper shows his quality in 4-1 win over Seattle Kraken |
The Edmonton Oilers beat the Seattle Kraken 4-1 on the strength of Jack Campbell's stellar goaltending and some fine sniping by rookie attacker Xavier Bourgault. Philip Broberg: Another quiet but fundamentally-sound game, where he made one delicious attacking play. Failed to clear on an early PK, then got beat to a dangerous rebound by Matty Beniers in the slot. |

Canucks' pre-season lurches forward with loss to Kraken |
Three games into the Vancouver Canucks' 2023 pre-season and what this team will be remains a fuzzy, unclear picture. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. Kraken Should Start Shane Wright in the AHL This Season |
Once again, the Seattle Kraken have a big decision to make when it comes to Shane Wright. After bouncing around between the NHL, American Hockey League (AHL), World Juniors, and the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), the expectation is he will spend the majority of the season in one place where he can get... |

Kraken training camp trio is proof that draft day is only initial step in battle to NHL |
For all the fuss about NHL draft day and how high everybody's favorite teenage prospect will go, there comes a time shortly after when the shine wears off and production numbers matter far more than the numerical round you were chosen in. Kailer Yamamoto, Tye Kartye and Tucker Robertson combined for four goals between them in the two games as forwards hoping to make impressions, some with shorter term NHL outcomes in mind than others. |

Yamamoto bags two as Seattle Kraken win 5-3 over Calgary Flames |
A self-described hometown kid, Kailer Yamamoto's first game with his new team was a good one on Monday. Yamamoto scored a pair of power play goals to lead the Seattle Kraken to a 5-3 victory over the Calgary Flames in the first of a split-squad double-header. “I get to play in basically my hometown, and I'm just super excited about it,” said Yamamoto, who was born in nearby Spokane where he also played four years of junior hockey. The 24-year-old right winger signed a one-year, $1.5 million deal in the summer after having played the last six seasons with the Edmonton Oilers. |

André Burakovsky back on the ice a welcomed sight as Seattle Kraken open camp |
André Burakovsky wanted a normal summer break filled with some enjoyable downtime sandwiched around getting ready for the upcoming NHL campaign. The way last season went for the Seattle Kraken forward didn’t allow him the chance at that relaxed summer. “We were putting in a lot of work every day for the entire summer,” Burakovsky said on Thursday as the Kraken opened their third training camp. |
