Carolina-Nashville 1st NHL postponement since season started
The NHL has postponed its first game since the league's season began, calling off Tuesday night's game between Carolina and the Predators hours after the Hurricanes won the first of a two-game set in Nashville. ''The decision was made out of an abundance of caution to ensure the health and safety of players, coaches and game day personnel and in consultation with medical experts,'' the league said. The NHL did not specify which team prompted the postponement, though four Hurricanes players were added to the COVID-19 list Tuesday.

Dallas Stars Daily Links: The Rise of Heiskanen
Typically when a skater still on their ELC is considered to be your best player, it’s because you’re not a very good team. Rarely can you make that claim when you’re a reigning Conference Champion, but that’s how it is with the Dallas Stars and Miro Heiskanen. Already a bona fide No.

NBA, NHL delay games as COVID-19 once again threatens professional sport
Two games between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards set for Sunday and Monday were on hold, the NBA said on Friday, because the Wizards did not have the "league-required eight available players to proceed" due to ongoing contact tracing on the team. Dallas Stars Daily Links: Cap Wizardry
Thanks to a COVID-19 outbreak that hit the Dallas Stars’ training camp, General Manager Jim Nill was forced to get creative with his team’s “opening night” roster. Making the team cap compliant was easy thanks to LTIR — it was maximizing their available cap space that proved difficult: The Stars placed goaltender Ben Bishop ($4,916,667 cap hit) and defenseman Stephen Johns ($2,350,000) on LTIR before the season, allowing the team to exceed the salary cap by $7,266,667 on the roster the team subm...
