Avalanche hope Gabe Landeskog promotion, offensive adjustments produce better result vs. Stars in Game 4
Colorado Avalanche captain Gabe Landeskog made a historic return to NHL action Wednesday night in Game 3 of this 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs opening-round series against the Dallas Stars. When the Avs reconvened for practice Friday at Ball Arena, Landeskog was bumped up to the second line and to the top power-play unit. “It's remarkable, really,” Avs coach Jared Bednar said.

It's just like old times for Stars with veterans Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin contributing big goals
Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin shared a brief, light-hearted moment in the locker room after Game 3. Just a pair of 30-somethings for the Dallas Stars, chuckling over the fact that both scored in a 2-1 overtime win. “Jamie said, 'The old guys are still getting it done,'” Seguin recalled Friday after practice. For these longtime stalwarts, age remains just a number — Benn, the captain, is 35 and Seguin 33.

Watch: Dallas Stars score back-to-back OT winners for first time in team's playoff history
The Dallas Stars haven't led for a long time against the Colorado Avalanche, but they've found the back of the net when it counts in their opening round playoff series. Tyler Seguin followed up Colin Blackwell on Wednesday with a second overtime winner in the past two games as Dallas turned a 1-0 series deficit into a 2-1 lead heading into Game 4 on Saturday night. Believe it or not, the Stars have only held a lead for 62 total seconds over the first three games. Blackwell ended an eight-game losing streak that dated back to the regular season in Game 2 when he beat Colorado goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood with an impressive individual effort nearly 18 minutes into overtime.

Stars trade proposal lands Connor Murphy in offseason Blackhawks deal
The Dallas Stars are in the midst of a quest for what would be their first Stanley Cup championship since the franchise's only title to date, which was won in 1999. The image of Brett Hull's controversial Cup-winning goal not only lives in Dallas sports lore, but continues to haunt the dreams of Buffalo Sabres fans everywhere, even a quarter of a century later. Looking ahead to next season, could the Stars consider poaching one of the better defensemen from a basement-dwelling Western Conference team? Stars general manager Jim Nill has shown that he's willing to do whatever it takes to give his club an edge over the competition, which included this season's blockbuster acquisition of former Avalanche star forward Mikko Rantanen after his brief tenure with the Carolina Hurricanes.

Stars Tie Series With Overtime Thriller In Game Two
It is not common to have a must win game so early in a playoff series, let alone in the first round, but for the Dallas Stars on Monday any less than a victory was not satisfactory. The Stars were coming off a disappointing result in Game 1 as they fell 5-1 at home.
