“Be a goldfish”: Avs center hopeful Fredrik Olofsson looks like he's making the most of his opportunity
Shortly after another strong performance in a Colorado Avalanche exhibition game Sunday night, Swedish forward Fredrik Olofsson borrowed from the words and wisdom of one of America's finest fictional coaches, Ted Lasso. Olofsson, whom the Avs acquired for future considerations from the Dallas Stars in mid-June, is part of camp's biggest battle — the one for the fourth-line center role. Given how he's played and practiced, Olofsson likely would be Colorado's No. 4 center if opening night was today. “You have to kind of be able when you go home and close your eyes for the night to be happy with the effort you put in,” Olofsson said.

Another wave of cuts before game in Dallas
On practice day Tuesday there was small announcement of cuts before putting several on waivers in anticipation of more cuts prior to the road game against the Dallas Stars. The Colorado Avalanche are getting closer to their opening night roster with a couple tough decisions ahead. Ivan Ivan was perhaps the biggest surprise of camp going from an unknown AHL contracted player to someone with real prospect potential as pointed out by Jared Bednar. As expected once defensemen Wyatt Aamodt and Corey Scheuneman cleared waivers they were also reassigned to the Eagles.

Dallas Stars return to the American Airlines Center to take on Avalanche
After a short preseason road trip, the Dallas Stars are back at the American Airlines Center tonight as they take on the Colorado Avalanche again. For those who were not able to watch it, the Stars fought back in the third to send it to overtime but ultimately lost the game. The Stars have definitely shown that they can rally back to force overtime or win the game during this preseason.

St. Louis Blues fall short to the Dallas Stars in preseason match at Cable Dahmer Arena
After losing both Kansas City preseason showcases over the last two years, one to the Stars, the Blues fought hard to give fans on the west side of the state a win to relish in, yet they fell just short in an overtime loss. In just over a minute in the first period, Brayden Schenn, Blue's captain, scored a goal off of assists from Leo Loof and Jordan Kyrou to ignite the crowd. Unfortunately, that excitement was quickly silenced when Matej Blumel scored a goal for the Stars just 20 seconds later. Early punches were thrown and Schenn found himself hitting the net again a few minutes later to give the Blues the lead back and fans hope.

Enough of the Jim Nill Politics: Bring up the young prospects slowly
The Dallas Stars have one of the deepest prospect pools currently in the league. Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill has a history of blocking young prospects from making the roster. Let's take a look at how Jim Nill and his politics could affect the Dallas Stars this season and down the road.

3 Reasons the Stars Should Rest Vets in the Preseason
With preseason underway, the Dallas Stars have already played a few exhibition games. A handful of their top veterans have had some ice time, but it's in everyone's best interest to rest them as much as possible. While they shouldn't be allowed to get “rusty,” fans should expect to see some strategy in veteran ice time ahead of the last two preseason games. The most obvious reason for resting veterans in the preseason is to help prevent injuries before the regular season gets into full swing.

The Dallas Stars Defense: What Needs to Change?
Let's narrow in on the defense and what needs to change from the 2022-2023 season to the 2023-2024 season. Training camp is there to finalize this process, but with the defense, it's quite clear who will make the cut already. While there are compelling prospects, most notably Lian Bischel, the roster will be what the roster has been. Dallas Stars Defense: Who will be the defensemen on the Stars' roster?

Wild's Postseason Struggles Return in Preseason Loss to Stars
It may have been preseason game number two, but the residual anger from the Minnesota Wild and Dallas Stars postseason battle last season was still felt. Many might be thankful the game was not televised, but hearing the Stars cheer after each goal over the radio brought back some painful memories.

Wilderness Walk: Wild Lose To Stars In Unseen Preseason Action
Image courtesy of © Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports By Thomas Williams - 48 minutes ago That's Wild Did the Minnesota Wild lose to the Dallas Stars by a score of 6-1 in their second preseason game on Tuesday night, or was it all our imagination? We will never know what that miserable loss looked like or how the one single goal scored by Jujhar Khaira went past the goal line. Thanks to the lack of livestream or broadcast, it is a big mystery. Maybe they were doing us a favor from letting us enjoy our night and not watch that game. [NHL dot com] After their last few seasons, is now the time for the Wild to give up on their effort to be gritty and play the hard way, and just go back to basics? [Hockey

I'm concerned about some the core Dallas Stars players playing tonight
For example, that would be players like Logan Stankoven, Mavrik Bourque, and Lian Bichsel. Now I'm not the Head Coach or General Manager of the Dallas Stars, so I'll keep my mouth shut about the lineup tonight.

Red Wings fall as ice sidetracks Prospects Tournament; Leafs-Jackets game moved due to ice conditions
Sep. 14—ACME — Balky ice didn't interrupt the Detroit Red Wings, but a few turnovers did. The Red Wings opened up the 2023 NHL Prospect Tournament with a 4-2 loss to the Dallas Stars, not long after the game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Columbus Blue Jackets was moved from one rink to the other mid-game because of ice conditions. Breanna Stewart’s 40-point outburst enough to push win streak to 7 after sneaking past Dallas Wings
The Liberty stayed perfect on their road trip after barely defeating the Dallas Wings, 94-93, at College Park Center on Tuesday. Dallas had a chance for a go-ahead shot with 23 seconds remaining, but Wings star Satou Sabally missed a game-winner that would’ve clinched her team the No. 4 overall seed on Tuesday night. Sabally’s shot, with three seconds remaining, drew iron but wasn’t good ...
