Diving Into the Dallas Stars' 2021-22 Schedule

After the season was cut short in 2019-20, the entire playoffs were played in a bubble. And then the league was forced to battle through a 56-game condensed schedule in 2020-21, so this is a huge step for the league’s return to normalcy.

Loss of Stars' Oleksiak to Kraken Gives Major Blow to Team Defense
He was traded by current general manager Jim Nill to the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 2017-18 season, ending his first tenure with the Stars. Rumor Roundup: John Klingberg On The Trade Block?
The Dallas Stars are rarely out in the rumor mill. Part of that is because general manager Jim Nill is very good at playing all his cards close to the vest, and part of it is because there really hasn’t been much intrigue with the roster decisions they’ve had to make the last couple of years — especially as the Stars appeared set for one last Stanley Cup run with their current core this year.

Dallas Stars Daily Links: Expectations for Miro Heiskenan
As you all know by now, the Dallas Stars have locked up star defenseman Miro Heiskanen for the next eight years at $8.45M AAV. Only five defenseman carry a larger cap hit, and the top four have each won a Norris Trophy. But if you ask those defensemen, they’ll probably agree that Heiskanen is on the track to win it himself one day: “I think for his age, how he uses his body and how he positions himself in the defensive zone, the way he moves on the blue line offensively, there’s no question that...

Trying to do that in a season that saw partial and complete league shutdowns, prospects crossing oceans to get playing time, and a significant shift from in-person scouting and interviews to video? Ha, yeah, good luck with that.
