Report: Sabres’ Bogosian requests trade
With the Buffalo Sabres dealing with a logjam of defenseman, the team has been active in NHL trade rumors as general Jason Botterill tries to make a move to help address the team's depth at forward. It is not hard to connect the dots and assume a defenseman could be the player eventually on the move. And it seems veteran Zach Bogosian might be making the decision on which one to trade a little easier.

Eichel scores 2 goals; Sabres beat Predators 4-3
On a night the Sabres celebrated the tradition of their old building, Jack Eichel and his Buffalo teammates continued to establish a home-ice advantage in their current arena. Eichel had two goals to extend his NHL-leading point streak to 15 games, and linemate Victor Oloffson scored the deciding goal in the third period as Buffalo rallied to beat the Nashville Predators 4-3 for their third straight win. Jimmy Vesey also scored, Sam Reinhart had two assists, and Linus Ullmark made 36 saves for the Sabres, who received an extended ovation from the crowd after improving to 10-3-3 at home.

The Buzzer: Red Wings snap skid; hats off to Panarin
The Canucks probably had no business winning this game. Fortunately for the Canucks, Markstrom was up to the challenge and played one of the best games of his career as he stopped all 43 shots he faced in a 1-0 overtime win. The Rangers spoiled Bob Boughner's San Jose coaching debut with a 6-3 win that was highlighted by another huge game for Panarin.

Reports: Slumping Sharks fire DeBoer
The San Jose Sharks, mired in a five-game losing streak, fired coach Pete DeBoer, multiple media outlets reported Wednesday night. Assistant coach Bob Boughner reportedly will take over as the interim head coach. The clarification comes amid an NHL-wide examination of coaching behavior in the wake of Bill Peters resigning as the Calgary Flames' head coach on Nov. 29 after he was accused of verbal and physical abuse.
