Predators' Summer of Hope Leads to Season of Despair
The team that makes the biggest moves in the offseason often ends up falling short of expectations, and the Nashville Predators are the latest, and perhaps greatest, example of this phenomenon. Fresh off a surprise playoff appearance last season, the Predators made huge splashes in the offseason by signing free agent forwards Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault, as well as defenseman Brady Skjei. Once they actually hit the ice, though, they looked nothing like a championship team. The Predators lost their first five games of the season and never really recovered.

Resilient Blues Can't Lose as Playoffs Near
The St. Louis Blues remain the hottest team in the NHL. Unfortunately for the lowly Nashville Predators, they stood in the way of the Blues adding cushion to their Wild Card spot. With a 3-2 win, St. Louis took down the Preds. The win mathematically eliminated the Predators from the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs and extended their winning streak to eight games.

Ducks' Trevor Zegras jokes unique national anthem rendition contributed to slow start
"The Star-Spangled Banner" became a polarizing topic in the NHL over the last month because of a feud between President Donald Trump and Canadian officials over tariffs. The national anthem became a talking point again in the league for a different reason. U.S. Marine Corps veteran Bruce Gust performed his own rendition of the anthem at the Bridgestone Arena before the Nashville Predators took on the Anaheim Ducks.

Mark Jankowski, dangerous Hurricanes host Predators
Since being acquired from the Nashville Predators on March 7, Mark Jankowski has made an immediate impact for the Carolina Hurricanes. Jankowski scored a goal for the second time in as many games on Sunday to help Carolina post a 5-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks. Like Jankowski, Taylor Hall continues to make his presence known.
